A custom online learning platform for South African skipper licence courses - student portal, chapter tests, timed final exam and downloadable Certificate of Attendance.
What they needed
Anyone who wants a SAMSA skipper licence has to complete classroom theory before writing the Certificate of Competence exam - usually on fixed dates, in a fixed place. SkipperSA wanted to let students do that theory on their own time, from a phone, tablet or laptop, with a proper pass-mark system, certificates and a way to take payment without a heavy payment gateway.
What we built
We built a full custom platform rather than bolting a plugin onto a template: a public marketing site with a category selector and pricing, plus a secure student portal with a dashboard, seven lessons that each unlock after an 80% chapter test, a timed randomised final exam (75% pass mark, two attempts) and a downloadable Certificate of Attendance with a verification number. Registration, sign-in, EFT invoicing with manual payment confirmation, and legal pages (Terms, Privacy, Refunds) are all built in.
